4.6.1 CSV Import not found

Thu Dec 08, 2011 11:54 am
It's probably just me but...

I can't find CSV Import on the file menu (or anywhere else) in 4.6.1
I checked that is is 'checked' in the Plugin section of Configure.

The main reason I updated to 4.6.1 was in the hope to stop the crashing after every attempt to import a csv file, but now I can't even attempt to import. (Which I guess stopped the crashing :P )

Well, if it appears in the plugin section then it should be loaded. Try restarting since plugin are loaded using the KDE platform and maybe an installation requires kde4_init to be restarted.

Was the application (kmymoney.exe) or only kiosalve.exe crashing. If it was only kioslave.exe then that's a known platform bug on Windows (in Qt) which will only be solved by a future release.

Have restarted everything and same result.

I guess the question is, if the plugin is loaded and should be working, where will I access it if it is not in the File, Import menu?

I have no idea what part of the program crashed, unfortunately I know littleabout KDE or it's applications, just heard KMyMoney was a good application and am trying to work with it.

I've just checked here and the plugins are accessible in the 'Settings' -> 'Plugins' section but their functionality: Import menu, Print check menu is not available. Are you sure that they where there in 4.6.0?

Maybe the plugins don't work because the version you installed was built against kde 4.7.4 and you have kde 4.7.0. I gues you'll have to wait until the 4.7.4 release will be made official.

I've just tested my locally compiled version with which the plugins are working.

Or, just upgrade kdelibs to 4.7.4 the same way you updated kmymoney to 4.6.1 - by downloading the files and installing them from a local directory. I've checked that the problem is fixed by that.

Thanks that worked great and no crashing!!

Awesome, and thanks for all the help.

Despite the oddities the background system KMyMoney is the most useful accounting software I can find. Mainly bacause VAT/GST thing makes sense and is really useable.

OK, I'm glad it worked out but keep in mind that on Windows we don't have yet the kind of stability as on Linux - mainly due to platform issues. But as the number of Windows users will increase I hope that will improve.

So do make regular backups of your data file and report any bugs that you find.
