Hi everyone,
I am looking at cheque printing in version 4.6.5 (the problem was the same in 4.6.1). After setting up the Print Cheque plugin to point to an html template, the "print cheque" option is available in the context menu for a transaction. Furthermore, it prints (not as I'd like - but that is the subject of a later thread). However, when I try and print it for a second time - Right Click | Print Cheque. Nothing happens. Select the transaction for the third time and right click - and the print cheque option is grayed out this time? Close KMyMoney and reopen and I can print cheques again (but only the once) Watching the printer spool queue there is no activity on the second attemt to print a cheque. The problem seems to be in opening the printer dialog? Any thoughts would be most welcome. Regards, Martin |

I quickly scanned the source and in fact printing the same cheque is inhibited by the logic of the plugin. This information should be stored and reprinting after program restart should not work either.
I am not sure, if blocking the print option for multiple rounds on the same transaction is a good idea. The implementation which I have seen has at least the flaw, that it does not work with multiple files. The discussion is open!

I remember that allowing to print a check for a transaction only once was one of many requirements posted on the mailing list some years ago by a print check user.

Hi,
Thank you both for your comments.Yes, I suspected that some sort of blocking arrangement was active. Although in my case, it seems not to be working very well! I would certainly like to add my vote to a change in this behavior. Printers (and printing) are such flaky tasks that enviably one will need to re-print a cheque. Maybe a flag in the Plugin? Is this the correct space to discuss cheque printing development? If so, I'll wait a day or two and then post a question (or two) on the background strategy of cheque printing. Regards, Martin |

I'd rather say you should switch over to the developer's mailing list. That's much better frequented!

This probably tells you how unsuited I am to participate in a "Developers Mailing List"! How do I find/use it? As I said at the head of this thread, I'm a relative newbe of should I say numpty! Regards, Martin |

Visit https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kmymoney-devel for subscription. Everything else should be intuitive.

It can be possible that your printer may not be accepting multiple commands or may be there can be blocking commands active in it. You can consult the service agency of the printer for better solution. Due to such reasons it is more desirable to outsource the printing of checks from https://www.checkomatic.com/computer-ch ... checks.php or some similar sources to keep yourself free from such tensions. You just need to place your order with details and they will deliver the same at your door step.
