Hi
In the repos at Mint 12 KDE is still the version from yesteryear (4.5.3). Can you direct me to find a possibility to upgrade to this new version?

Hello. Adding this PPA should do the trick. KMyMoney PPA from Clay Weber |

I have Clay's PPA loaded but the latest version he shows is 4.6.1-4 Is this really 4.6.2 as my current version of 4.6.1 claims it's up to date.

I think that Clay's PPA was not updated a while ago.

Hello
Can you please advise when the Windows version of KMM v4.6.3 might be available? Thanks. Steffie. |

That depends on the KDE Windows team's release schedule, but I haven't heard anything coming up so it could take a while. Unfortunately until we create a standalone installer and package KMyMoney ourselves there is going to be a delay between releasing the sources and the availability of the package.

OK, thanks Cristian. I fall for this each time [haha]; as an "outsider" who remains unfamiliar with this whole community & programming protocols, other than my occasional interactions since i had the good fortune to discover KMM a couple of years ago, i keep mistaking the occasional announcements of new KMM versions as signifying that it includes those for Windows. Oh well, i shall just keep waiting & watching, again... Steffie.

Sorry to mislead you. We actually only release the source code. Then, each packager has to deal with it and release an installable package for each environment (ie. Linux distros, BSD, OS X, and Windows). Each environment has a different release cycle, so the time for the actual availability of a version of KMyMoney in an environment varies greatly. From a few hours in some distros, to several months. Windows usually takes a few weeks or months, depending on where in their release cycle they are.

There is a Windows installer now
We are happy to announce the release of a standalone installer for Windows of KMyMoney version 4.6.3 [1]. For a while now the latest version that was available on Windows was 4.6.2. Since we took over the packaging of the application on Windows with the help of the KDE on Windows project [2] we will be able to provide the latest stable release once we release a source tarball. The package contains: KMyMoney 4.6.3 (all available languages) KDE 4.8.5 Please note that the application is far from being thoroughly tested on this platform so please report any issues you find at [3]. We are counting on the community of KMyMoney users on Windows to fix issues that are specific to this platform. Don't forget to use the backup feature [4] (without checking the 'mount' flag). Please take care of these steps [5] before trying to report a crash of the application. Known issues of this version: - the local user manual is not yet available (the online version is available at [6]) - the Finance::Quote module will only work if you install perl (with the Finance::Quote module) separately If you were already using version 4.6.2 on Windows you can install 4.6.3 in a different directory try it, and if you are happy with it you can safely remove the previous installation (make sure that you keep your data file). Thank you to all involved for 4.6.3 [Windows]. So far so good for me ... it installed easily & perfectly, & so far no crashes in use. It remains a pity to have no integrated Manual, but after so long i'm now kinda used to not having it [yes, i know it's there on the web, but that's not quite the same thing]. The only minor [indeed, tiny] thing i noticed during one of my starts of 4.6.3 is that the splash screen still says 4.6.2 in its bottom LHS corner. Thanks again.
PS: Yes, i know i have not complied with "please report any issues you find at [3]", but it's very late here, i'm very tired, & the splash screen observation is so trivial it's hardly even worth being called an "issue". Steffie. |

Then you must be running version 4.6.2. Did you run KMyMoney from your 4.6.3 installation folder or from the newly created start menu?
