Hello,
I am a new user of KMyMoney and am satisfied with its features and interface. But I have 1 important question. How can I enter personal (non-business) expenses paid by business account? I looked at accounting sites (you can see some links below) and they all suggest to use "Owner's Draw" ("Owner's Drawing", "Owner's Drawings") account for such cases. This account is not considered as business expense and taxes will be paid from the drawing amount (like if it is a profit/salary). But unfortunately I can not find any account like that in KMyMoney. Nothing like "Drawing". In other software it can be found in "Owner’s Equity:Draw" account/category. Where is it in KMyMoney? Thank you. The links with the explanations about "Owner's Draw" account, personal expense paid from business and how it is done in other accounting software: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_a_drawing_account http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_type_of_ ... ng_account http://www.workingpoint.com/blog/how-to ... siness/550 http://community.intuit.com/posts/how-t ... registered |

You could take a look at this discussion on the user's list since it's something similar. I guess it's just a matter of what you need to account for and just enter it in KMyMoney.
You do know that accounts can be created/edited? So if you are missing an account just create it.

Thanks, Cristian, but unfortunately KMyMoney does not allow to create Equity accounts, does it? "Owner’s Equity:Draw" account is an Equity account.
Thanks for the link to the user's list too, but it is not related to my question. (That farmer spent his personal money for business needs. So, he just invested, it is easy to do/track with KMyMoney.) |

I've just checked that if "Show equity accounts" is checked 'Equity' can be selected as an account type in the new account wizard but the wizard can't be completed because of the parent account selection step which does not show the root equity account (because it does not honor the setting) so the wizard can't be completed. But that's a bug that can be fixed. About the user's list thread I think that spending personal money for business needs and the other way around are related but I don't run a business so I could be wrong.

Thank you. Should I register this bug somewhere (bug tracking system)? Or you have it in your TO-DO list already?

I've just added it to the tracker: Bug #295483.
