so far every single kde upgrade I've done ive had to wipe my old config for some reason or other; it drives me crazy! Wish it didn't have to be this way

I hadn't to do that - but I had to suggest it to people several times.....
Apparently the different configurations between versions are on some surfaces incompatible..... Maybe somebody knows, I'm curious
using PCLinuxOS 2010.7 KDE Version

you mean your entire ~/.kde4 (or ~/.kde) directory?
I know that moving to 4.5 my plasma rc files needed to be recreated and maybe the rc's for a couple/few apps but never the entire directory. |

i usually wipe the whole .kde folder when the system is being extra quircky; i back it up first and copy and paste some configs over -- like kmail's. Every major KDE upgrade (like from 4.3 to 4.4 to 4.5 etc) I have to wipe it. I sometimes have to wipe it after minor upgrades too (like 4.4.1 to 4.4.2 etc ). I suppose it comes from KDE advancing so fast. |
