It seems that Nokia is going to build a new "Android, iPhone killer" using the Microsoft's software platform. Meanwhile the Nokia's stocks fall. So what happened to Meego? it is to late?.

I would like to know your opinion.

Its not joining with Microsoft its decided the only way for Android not to destroy Nokia is to use Windows Mobile as their OS, cus Symbian just isn't up to scratch. Personally as long as Nokia is intending to promote Windows Mobile I won't be sad to see them go

This is the most insightful post that I read today about this N-M alliance:

Smartphones have, yet, a low market %, being that dumb phones are around 73% total world.

As for the state of Meego, I recall seeing an article that showed that Meego development has slumped off - they should have had a newer release already (i.e. Q4 of 2010), but there have been roadblocks in the development process and the project is progressing very slowly. At this point Meego had better be truly amazing when it is released in order to gain any ground against Android and iPhone.
Nokia is going with Windows Mobile because it is something that they can put on a new line of phones right now and have some chance at gaining some market share.

At least with regards to Qt, you have to remember that Qt is licensed under the LGPL, and there's a whole ecosystem based on it.

Also, you have to bear in mind that is way too early to tell what this announcement means for Qt and by extension to KDE. Inside KDE many are already moving to work through these topics with Nokia and the larget Qt community. This will however take some time to play out.

In short: it's indeed an unexpected development, but it's better to avoid knee-jerk reactions that might cause more harm than good.

Considering Windows Phone 7 hasn't exactly been selling like hotcakes, I'd say Nokia was placing its faith a bit too much in a very unproven product that I can see being a flop - I would say that, except the reason becomes obvious when you see who the new CEO used to work for.

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but why O why would Nokia choose the unproven, near-enough unadopted and unsold Windows Phone 7 over the highly successful and highly profitable Android? Why would they choose an external company's software at all, with all the development focus on MeeGo by several companies? Seems too obvious to be a coincidence to me. That's just my take, though.
