Hello,
I am a dyed in the wool Slackware user, currently 13.1 and I am happy with that. I want to upgrade mu GUI from 4.4.3 to 4.6. So I have downloaded the following files. kdeaccessability kdeadmin kdeartwork kdebase-runtime kdebase-workspace kdebase kdebindings kdeedu kdegames kdegraphics kdelibs kdemultimedia kdenetwork kdepimlibs kdeplasma-addons kdedesk kdetoys kdeutils kdewebdev oxygen-icons all have the filename -4.6.5.tar.bz2 However I am quite used to the following ./configure make make test make install There seems to be a different protocol for installation and I need some light on the topic. What I really want is to replace 'Konqueror' because my version crashes all the time. But any idea about where I should put and try to compile and install these files? PS There is no specific binary for Slackware but in any case I prefer to compile from code because I can fix code if I need to to. Help greatly appreciated. |

Just to be clear. I have tried installing the packages and came to the conclusion that a certain order of installation was required, however there is no documentation I can find among the packages that gives a hint.
I have also scoured the www.kde.org website for installation instructions, however the website seems to be catering to kde developers. Just an addendum. |

I don't compile so I can't help but these pages but these pages should:
http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started/Build http://kdesrc-build.kde.org/ http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started ... rom_Source karma is a feedback system, "+"'s indicate assistance above and beyond the call of just being helpful, "-"'s indicates the person was difficult or abusive in their posting(s). I'm not sure there's an official explanation, if there is it's escaped me. |

Thanks,
Exactly what I was looking for. I can't find the 'Solved' checkmark button but this is definitely 'solved.'
