Does anyone know if it possible to extract a submatrix of a SparseMatrix type?

Specifically, I want to extract selected columns in a ColMajor matrix.

Eight days ago I asked essentially the same question (i.e., "Are blocks defined for sparse matrices, and, if not, are there plans to do so?"), but I haven't yet received a response.
