taskbar

Fri May 18, 2012 3:53 am
Hi, did KDE quality check what the taskbar looks like when it's aligned to the left? Please try alinging the taskbar to the left and it will become immediately obvious what is wrong. Or see comparison of screenshots from both windows 7 and kde 4.8

It is not immediately obvious which part you are referring to. Please try and be as explicit as possible.

Also if you have something that is clearly a bug, (such as the 'K' being cut off) that's not an "idea".

Thanks for the reply. Did you try aligning the taskbar to the left? If so, did you notice anything? I ask because that's really the easiest way to explain. It's also possible it's just me -_-

I will attempt to be as explicit as possible but again, try aligning it to the left yourself. It will be rather obvious.

The screenshot I provided was taken after roughly half hour of adjustments/settings involving tons of trial and error. I believe it took me ten seconds to accomplish the same in Windows 7. Forgive me for not taking a screenshot of what it looked like before adjustments because I have no wish to kill another half hour. Essentially, everything is out of proportion like a 500 pound shrimp. There is no scaling. If I remember correctly, if I decrease the width of the bar, the icon of the app remains unchanged while everything else disappears. Imagine having a dozen excel spreadsheets open and not knowing which one is which. If I make it too wide, it looks silly. It clearly shows that no one tested it. I am afraid I don't know how to describe it. And it takes up uneccesary desktop space.

It's not clearly evident in the picture but while both are small, it's easier to read the day/date in windows yes? Is it possible to get the day and date to be as big as the time?

I am using 1920x1080

No probs here. Are you certain, that your panel is otherwise empty (no spacers and such)?
