Hello,

I like KWin's tabbing a lot, but adding a client to a tab, it feels pretty weird (for me at least).
I guess it has to do with the long-term interaction with firefox (and other major tab-like apps).
I don't know know if KWin team has already planned something, but i would like to propose the following (i am not even sure if it is possible with the current (any) state of the tab group code):
  • Make tabbing (adding clients) more like drag and drop - even by directly by dnd clients to each other, or by exposing a specific area which would consume-trigger the events (that area could be also visualized by a rectangular box with some icon in it).
  • Allow tabs to be dragged out of a group.
  • As a result from the above: allow to dnd tabs from an existing group to another.

update 1: As seen in Bug #254295, TabCandy could be pretty cool :-) check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVdlSXiX1c4

Comments are welcomed, and thanks for your work! :-)

This feature would be very handy, especially when using tabs and tiling.

I was thinking about having a modifier key while dragging a window such as ctrl.

Ideally this would still work with the alt+drag window drag too.
