I wish a new behaviour was possible, optionally. I wish minimized windows could minimize to icon only and align to the side of the task list (right or left) automatically. Currently I have to use Alltray to achieve this. Please have a look at screenshot.
This is the effect that I'd like to achieve. This is my personal preference. The advantage of this for me is that minimized windows don't bother me on the task list anymore, they don't grab my attention anymore but at the same time I can access them quickly. I don't need to use activities that often to keep tasks in order. The most important advantage is that I don't need to close and reopen applications to keep them in order, in other words, I don't get them cluttered. Applications are always ready to use and I just maximize windows which is much more smoother and quicker experience then closing and reopening. Maybe it takes a little more memory but not much and above all smoother working experience is worth it. Previously I closed and reopened Dolphin like 20-30 times a day, which on slower machines might be slow and not very comfortable. Some applications have built-in "minimized to tray" feature but actually not many have it. I wish I could have the same effect without Alltray. It would provide more convenient experience because I wouldn't have to remember about clicking on third-party app to manage windows.
