I did try now to reopen a really big book (500 pages) with okular

as nothing did happen, I did do it not only once but 2 or 3 times

so I am know opening a really very big book 2 or 3 times at the same time !

and I find no tool to stop the 1 or 2 not necessary actions

(like the fonction «stop» in browsers!)

Like killing the processes?
Run ksysguard for a nice GUI process manager
