Dolphin: show mounted FTP

Sat Oct 13, 2012 7:04 am
Hello,
I'm new here...

I come from GNOME and there when you mount a FTP directory it appears on the left with a eject icon to unmount it.
I've tried in KDE by mounting via CTRL+L (modify path, ex: ftp://192.168.1.xxx:2121/) but the mount doesn't appear in the resources pane.
I've also noticed that the connection remain open until I close the dolphin window.

It would be a great addiction, according to me...

WHAT I HAVE NOT TRIED:
  • Having more dolphin windows keeps the connection open?
  • Is it the same if you connect to a FTP service by using a presaved connection? (from add network location)
  • Does it involve other network mounts (like NFS or SAMBA)?

I'll try them ASAP and report. :-)

  • Having more dolphin windows keeps the connection open?
YES: It opens new connections for every window when you try to open the same folder.
This means that if you open three windows you open three connections and some servers may limit the number of active connections.
  • Is it the same if you connect to a FTP service by using a presaved connection? (from add network location)
YES: No icon appears even for a presaved connection
