Hello everyobdy,

I'm alex, I'm a FLOSS enthusiast and KDE is my DE of choiche. I love its freedom and I want to invest in it.
Naturally it does have some pain points to me, for example System Settings UX. As user, I don't find its usability and design good.
So I decided to stop complaining and do some work on the UI of the shell and some of its modules. So these mock-ups came out.

The design principles I've kept in mind are
1) no feature removal
2) no power-user optimized UI
3) coherence among all modules
4) unclutter the most I can!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/zrs1xe95p6elm ... ttings.odg is the mock-up of the shell: Categories and modules are re-organized and re-named.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/mipsxdssknaz6 ... ttings.odt describes those changes.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/acoku2j9l6goq ... arance.odg is the mockup of Appearence modules: basically, areas were extended, buttons moved.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/onk2fxecfdms3 ... rance3.odg With traditional Add and Get buttons
https://www.dropbox.com/s/cib7lfnft9oqa ... arance.odt describes those changes.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/2bhf2p715rcsp ... ckends.odg is a mock-up of Inforamtional Sources (?) module: Phonon backends were added.

At the end, I'm pretty satisfied with the results, so time has come to share.
I hope this could be the beginning of a discussion.

So, have a look, share your toughts and play with them!
Thanks, cheers!

[update 2]
- checkboxes instead of switches
- Wallpaper module has been purged
- two new alternative UIs in systembackends.odg
- in systemsetings.odg Desktop Preferences window has been added

[update 3]
- System Settings mockups with traditional Add and Get buttons have been uploaded (appearence3.odg)
