Problem: Today widescreen monitors are very common but not many programs makes real use of extra horizontal space. So it makes much sense of having a big sidepanel which can contain a taskbar and various plasmoids instead of just wasting the space. But there is no option to set fixed size and exact position of plasmoids when they are in a panel. They often take huge amount of space and take room from other plasmoids making them useless. If you set plasmoids to desktop you lose functionality of the panel like auto-hiding or bringing just the stuff from panel to top when moving cursor to edge of the screen.

Here's an example of the problem:

At left is what panel should look like (plasmoids besides taskbar and notification area are at desktop) and at right is what it looks like when plasmoids are actually placed to a panel. CPU, memory and network plasmoids are way too big taking almost all the space from the taskbar.

Proposition: Add an option to set fixed size and position of plasmoids when they are located in a panel. Could be done using same kind of handle they get when they are at desktop. That would make sidepanels a lot more useful.
