I noticed a few minor challenges with System Settings -> Startup and Shutdown.

1. The name of the Autostart module is somewhat misleading. I suspect most people read the term "Autostart" and think only in terms of what happens when KDE starts, but do not think of apps and scripts to run when KDE shuts down. Thus many users probably don't know how to add programs to run during KDE shutdown.

2. After selecting the Autostart module, the bold lettered description at the top reads:

Manage which programs start up automatically with KDE

To help users understand that "Autostart" includes programs that automatically start (run) during shutdown too, perhaps revise that description.

3. Thus far I have not found a way within System Settings to add a program to run during shutdown. I can manually add a desktop file to ~/.kde/shutdown and then the file appears in System Settings, but from within System Settings I am unable to add a program and change the "Run On" mode to shutdown. The problem could be between my ears but if not then a method is needed to toggle startup to shutdown. I don't see any such option in Properties or Advanced.

In summary:

1. Change the "Autostart" module name to "Auto Start and Auto Shutdown."

2. Change the Autostart module description to "Manage which programs run automatically when KDE starts and shuts down."

3. Add a way to toggle Startup and Shutdown "Run On" mode.

Do these changes sound reasonable?

Thanks. :)

Edit: An example of being able to toggle startup to shutdown is users could add "sweeper --automatic" to their shutdown option. :)

scripts can be toggled pre-kde startup, startup and shutdown so just wrapping your sweeper command in a script will work. I'm gonna guess that there aren't many programs run at shutdown and that's why it's wasn't implemented.

also would add that scripts having a enable/disable toggle might be useful
