KyMyMoney Sugestions.
1. Automatic stock price updates at a specified time. (through cron) 2, The security list has "duplicates". I have three accounts with the same stock, but I had to enter each ticker symbol as a "new" stock for each account. I also noticed that the stock prices are retreive three times. A stock symbol should only be entered once and avaialble to all accounts. 3. Need to add a capability to track (buy/sell) stocks by "lots". 4. Need to add "cost basis" and "gain/loss" capabilities. 4a.The cost basis of a stock is its purchase price plus any commissions or other charges. When a stock is sold the cost basis is also adjusted by any commissions or other charges. As currently confifgured, the commissions are deducted as a current expense, which is wrong. 4b. KMyMoney needs a graphic to show current gain/loss. For example, you buy a stock for $100 and pay a $5 Commission. The cost basis is $105. The stock is currently trading at $110. The graphic would show an unrealized gain of $5.00. Now if you just happen to have sold the stock for $110 and paind a $5 Commission your your cost basis would be $110 and you would have a $0 realized gain. |

I believe that this is already handled but in a slightly awkward method. Say you have 1000 shares of BGC Partners in Account 1. Then you buy more of that in Account 2. When it asks you to enter the symbol (BGCP), don't do it right away. First erase the name of the stock in the Full Name window. Then enter the symbol (all caps?) and hit TAB. That will ask if this is the same investment as in Account 1. A |

My post is now over 9 (nine) years old, when I was first learning. So I have since adapted to this deficiency. Essentially this a normalization failure. Your suggestion may well work. I will test it out should I have that situation reoccur. I won't be modifying (correcting) my current stock tracking based on nine plus years of data, which would be an unnecessary pain. |

See, the problem is that I am a very slow reader -- I started reading your post in 2013, but you know, mouthing out each syllable takes time.
sorry to be unobservant ! A |

Not a problem. Consider that you are a speed reader, since others have yet to respond! I've done worse, but don't want to admit it. |
