The blur on transparent areas (Such as the lancelot launcher) is too little. It is hard to decioher the text from the slightly blurred part of the desktop behind it. I have tried increasing the blur factor and messing with the quality settings, but the blur is still too shallow.
Would it be possible to greatly increase the maximum blur, while decreasing the blur resolution to maintain performance? Here is an extreme example of how much ios7 blurs the background of transparent areas: KDE Blur (Lancelot Launcher): |

But these are discarded? |

For technical reasons, i assume. Marco apparently needs this for future plasma notifications etc.
Nothing will happen before PW/2 ("KDE5") anyway. |

I just figured out how to increase the blur radius above the maximum setting of 7:
1. Open dolphin and navigate to your home directory 2. Make sure hidden files are shown (toggle with Alt+.) 3. Navigate to "~/.kde4/share/config" 4. Open the text file "kwinrc" 5. Find the two spots where "blur radius" is set (I don't know the difference between the two) and increase the value to the desired amount (I use 20) 6. Save and restart computer Note: This only increases the blur, but does not decrease the resolution which means it will look better but take up more gpu usage since the blur plugin isn't optimized for a high blur radius. Also a darker more-opaque theme helps. Here is a new screenshot with blur set to 20 and a better theme: |
