Hello
It should be efficient if dolphin go back to upper directory if the user double click on an empty line. In other word: The navigation will be faster when we go in a directory and go back in upper one on double click on white area. Thanks Stéphane |

Though this is a very old thread, I second this notion! I first found this mouse "gesture" behaviour in a tool for the windows explorer and being able to navigate up by double clicking on empty space makes navigating so incredibly more efficient, that I almost switched back to Windows (but not quiet . It would be a very welcoming addition to the workflow!

Was it implemented? I would like to have this option available in Dolphin, whereas it improves a lot the productivity when using a mouse. Here, I found a long discussion but never see a pool for asking the users about it.

Great feature for gesture (i have new laptop, which is touch friendly), but why for clicking on empty space. Web browsers currently has done actions for double click on some element. Web pages often requires to go to Fullscreen mode, when double click on video playback.
I suggest better idea for such action. Introduce view mode to dolphin and switch between it or tab on such action. View mode would be set of panels or associated way to present files (list, icons, tree, etc)
