I left KDE for a little while to try out Xfce. There are many nice things about Xfce but I'm back on KDE again and really enjoying it. One thing I really appreciated from Xfce was the plugins for the panels. They are straight forward and do what they're supposed to do. Among them i really liked the Mail Checker plugin. I think KDE should have something like this that is available out of the box with a KDE install. I've install the gmail checker but it's not that easy on the eyes and is only for Gmail. Adding a mail checker that is as solid as say the network manager applet but simply checks for pop/imap accounts that you specify would I think be a cool addition to the desktop. Email is still so widely used that it seems like a feature that deserves some love. At least I for one loved to see it as a default plugin in Xfce and think it would be a great little addition to KDE.

it would be nice to include the "incoming messages" in our email accounts in the same plasmoid as our messages from our telepathy contacts.
