To be more clear, what I mean is exactly as windows does it, when I connect my pc to the TV using HDMI I just want to plug it and enjoy, but after that I have to go to sound setting and select the master channel each time I plug or unplug the HDMI.
I think this is not difficult to implement, just to detect if the HDMI is being used or not. That would make this DE even easier to use (and would be the first one to implement it). |

You mean the master channel in: System Settings > Multimedia?
Should work so that you raise your preferred audio device top of the list. If that hardware device isn't available, KDE directs sound to next and so on. So place your HDMI as preferred audio device (top of the list) and it gets sounds when HDMI port is detected to have a cable. I do this with my headphones (USB). I set them to top of the list and then when I want to hear music only from those, I only plug them in. The secondary for me is my 3.5 rear jack as I like to hear music from my external speakers instead small speakers in monitor what is connected via DisplayPort (listed as HDMI). But the displayport is my third option so when I move my case to other place, it will play music from my monitor if I don't have headphones connected. If wanted, I could set "simultaneous output to....." as primary or secondary and it would play sound through all possible devices what I have. |
