[Plasma] Interactive notifications

Sat Aug 09, 2014 11:30 am
In GNOME, notification are interactive. Some examples:
  • user can get message from someone in Empathy and can reply to it directly from notification
  • act on updates directly from notifcation, which provides buttons to view, apply and dismiss updates.
  • directly go to window which has finished doing something by clicking on notification telling application is ready
  • open application which has finished installing in background

After getting used to that, other systems feel quite antiquated. Obviously user can just look at notification without doing anything and it goes away like regular notification. It would be great if KDE implemented similar system.

There was some debate around here about this a while back when the current notifications system was put in place, that would be worth reviewing, and perhaps re-evaluating.
