[idea=]integrate Apt/Muon in the kicker menu (the start menu), so i can search for an app either on-my-computer OR to-be-installed, & simply click install from within the kicker menu results.[/idea]
this is the intuitive way when you first install KDE: you don't remember or know what's all installed, so you type it in the kicker menu search bar (because searching is fastest,) & look for a app you wonder is/isn't installed. if it isn't, it would be simply a start menu search + click (a on-hover install button / always-there (on the application menu item) install button for the app) -- it would simply be a start menu search + click to install, rather than fire up the software explorer, *which should still exist, to show popular, etc apps. if you search for more than just the name of the app, & have a bunch of results, you might want to either 1) sort them after installed software, & color them e.g. light blue (as in a hyperlink) or light grey/silver, to help distinguish them from installed apps; or, you might want to 2) make a small checkbox by the search engine for searching uninstalled apps (from the repositories) as well as installed apps. |
