I'm a big fan of KDE but every now and then I'll come across a feature which shows that Linux and KDE just aren't as polished as they could be. I was browsing some icon themes in the theme downloader only to find about half of them work. Some want to take me to a 3rd party website, some aren't even icon themes for KDE and the rest are just 404 errors. Also the quality of the ones that do work does seem a little amateurish.
I'd like to suggest that some quality control is implemented. 10 good solid professional looking themes beat 100 amateur jobs every single time. If the theme store can't curate itself, or be curated, maybe it's best left out of KDE? There are even KDE 3 icon themes in there! I'm a reasonably advanced Linux user so these aren't problems I can't get around, but it's still irritating and probably more frustrating to newbies. I hope we can make progress on this. I'd like to see Linux and KDE become more accessible to casual computer users. Here's my example: http://youtu.be/HvUlawifuYc |

Great idea for sure! How to go about it? Hm, not quite so sure. Perhaps some gremium only responsible for directly linked content of kde-look.org?
Certainly worth pursuing.
