Plasma 5 - GNOME-3 View

Mon Apr 04, 2016 9:25 am
KDE Plasma is the superior Linux Desktop of all time. It already supports different views, and with the switch to Plasma 5 and new functionalities i propose a new Gnome-3 like view: Just a customized panel with QML-Dock.

Basically the overview-mode of gnome-shell with dynamic workspaces and the dock would be a nice feature for plasma 5 imo. For more info see https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/GnomeSh ... e_overview

Have you tried GNOME 3? Hot-Corner-Workspace-View is quite different than that.

nope, not installed

you need to articulate what you're looking for, you shouldn't assume people here are familiar with Unity

if similar to KDE corners what are the differences and the advantages, if completely different describe it as a new feature and why it is needed.

Have you tried setting a shortcut with the 'Application Dashboard Widget'? I also enjoy the Gnome Dashboard and have found this to be an acceptable alternative. I use ksuperkey to use the meta button to open it just like with Gnome. I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for but it might do the trick.

    Open Global Keyboard Shortcuts
    Under KDE Component Select Plasma
Set keyboard shortcut for Activate Application Dashboard Widget
Set keyboard shortcut to Alt+F1 for use with ksuperkey
