I typically use Kate with a documents/tree-view sidebar and two split-views.
Every time I switch to a different file the state of the search/replace panel changes, and every time I switch to a different split-view the scroll position of the sidebar changes. AFAICR I've never wished to preserve, for an individual split-view or file, either the scroll position of the sidebar or the state of the search/replace panel. However, often I want to re-use the search/replace panel state between files (eg: replace the same keyword in two files). I also find it slightly disorienting when I want to open a different document in the opposite split-view and the scroll position of the sidebar changes when I click on the opposite split-view. Ideas: 1) It would be nice if there were an option (perhaps in "settings/configure kate/applications/sessions") to share the same search/replace panel etc and the same sidebar between all files and split-views. 2) If you select a document on the sidebar while holding say ctrl it would open in the previous split-view so that you don't have to switch to the other view before opening and switch back again. These would be minor improvements that would speed up development slightly. Do they sound reasonable? |
