Running Dolphin 16.08.3
I have a folder with multiple (hundreds) subfolders. When I open a subfolder and move up (Using Alt-Up arrow or Alt-Left arrow) shortcuts, I return to the parent folder BUT the focus is NOT on the folder I had opened earlier. So, I will have to manually go back to that folder again. Is there a way to automate this? I open folder150. When I go back or up, folder150 is selected. FWIW, Gnome Files does this as I am describing it.

No. It is not, in my case, at least. In my case, the first folder is underlined. That too, underlined. Not selected. May be, we are using different versions. Or may be we are talking about different behaviours.

Underlined item will be opened/executed when the 'Return' key is pressed.
Going back in the history (history item will be underlined) Dolphin Handbook: https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/applica ... index.html -> https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/applica ... -view.html
Going up in the directory structure (directory list first item will be underlined) More Earlier: [Dolphin] Remember last location selected when navigating - viewtopic.php?f=83&t=126124 Under review: Preserve selected items when changing folders - https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/128563/ Dropdown history: Bug 157819 - Missing back and forward history - https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157819 |

My bad.
It does exactly as you have mentioned. I guess I was confusing things between going up and going back. Is there a way to 'Close' this topic?
