To complement the new feature of having a speaker icon next to the app icon that is making some sound, there could be in the task manager configuration panel an option to mute the app with a middle click:

It would help quickly mute / unmute apps, to manage who's "speaking" now.

Maybe there could be even an option to scroll on the app icon to change its volume.

Any enthousiasts? :·)

I'd support any new, non-destructive option being added. Supporting!

Hi, I'm Ivan, a competent computer user (which means geek to most). I run KDE neon Developer when it works and KDE neon User when Developer doesn't work.
Hope I helped you with any problems you may have had :)

Latte-Dock uses middle button to close applications. Browsers use middle button to close tabs. This will be potentially confusing.

this isnt accurate... Latte Dock supports middle button to be set by the user what to do, available options are:

  • None
  • Close Window/Group
  • New Instance
  • Minimize/Restore Window group
  • Cycle Through Tasks
  • Toggle Task Grouping

and the same thing for Modifier+ left/middle/right click...

In Firefox, a middle button click can also open new tabs, not making it more confusing than any other software with which you just have to learn to live.
KDE Plasma, to me, is all about customisation. If it weren't, I'd be using XFCE or maybe even just a window manager for all my day-to-day computer tasks.
Another silly example: On nearly all systems, double-clicking is the default to open a folder. In Plasma, the default is a single click. I would say that is much more confusing than middle-clicking on an app to mute it.
Now we all know KDE tried to be friendly with everybody and decided that middle-clicking on a task manager app should open another instance, just as with the most popular OS on this planet. But with so much of Plasma not being Windows-like, I don't see why Quetzal's idea shouldn't at least be an option, without being the default.
I wouldn't be using it myself, as I like what the middle button does in the task manager, but I'm just saying there's really no reason not to make it an option. One day someone will activate it by accident and then ask what's happening on the KDE forums. The thread will be marked as solved in a few hours and that'll be it.
Just my humble opinion. Voted +1.

Cheers.
