You're doing something and have to leave your computer for a minute or longer, but you don't want to miss on what is happening. So you check the "Away Mode" checkbox and do what you need to do.

Later you come back, and since you turned the "Away Mode" on, your Notification Center kept track of what happened while you where away.



Now you know that you got a message while you where absent, that the file you where copying is ready and that you had some connection trouble, so I.E. maybe you missed something on the IRC due to this interruption or now you know why a download failed etc…

It's a history of what happened while you where away.

But there's more to it!

If you work on your computer and don't want to be distracted, just turn it on and you wont have to react within the 5 seconds following a new notification. Just finish what you have to do.

Maybe you're making a presentation. Turn "Away Mode" on, as well as "Do not pop up" which will send new notifications directly to the Notification Center.



I really would love such an option! :·)



There could also be an option in the configuration panel to have it turn on after X minutes.
Additionally it would be interesting to have more control over what is saved in the Notification Center and what's not, generally speaking. (Like some sort of importance threshold)

This should certainly be linked to the locking of the screen, such that locking the screen turns on Away Mode and unlocking the screen turns off Away Mode. I also like the idea of using this as a Go-Away-Distractions mode (though I'd probably end up forgetting to turn it off).

Yes airdrik, turning it on when the screen is locked makes a lot of sense, since you have absolutely no access to, and can't be notified by, the notification center.

Maybe you could ask it to turn itself on at a certain point (at xx:xx or in x minutes). Some access to this via Korganizer and others could be interesting, for future ideas.
