Running KDE Neon Stable Dev Edition 5.9.3 I find that if I tell my laptop to shutdown and then close the lid, It will jump into suspend. It will stay there until I open it again and then swiftly shutdown. Lid closing or suspend button pushing should be ignored if a shutdown is pending
