I've been using the Dolphin service menu to create password protected 7Z archives of files and still being a novice didn't realize that 7Z doesn't maintain file permissions.

I know can create a .tar file from a right click-menu, but I can't add a file.tar from this right click menu. All I have an option for is to decompress the archive.

It would be nice to include a "Type: Tar Archive (7z compression)" in the "Right Click -> Compress to:" service menu so that I can create a password protected archive that maintains file permissions in one click.

My first thought is to suggest switching to using .tar.xz instead as it is essentially the same compression algorithm as 7z, but the support should be built in to most linux utilities (including dolphin) to (de)compress .tar.xz archives. However, this doesn't accommodate password protection, which would still need a separate step (see this stackoverflow question for more information)

My second thought is to recommend writing your own service menu to do what you want.
