Application-specific themes

Fri Aug 25, 2017 2:31 pm
I am using "normal" Breeze theme for my system, but I use Kate as my IDE and I would want to have it with Breeze Dark theme. The settings of Kate allow for changing only the color of the text field, but the interface elements remain bright. This functionality existed in KDE4:
https://userbase.kde.org/Plasma/Tweakin ... sma_Themes

Note: I do not mean changing only the color of title bar through KWin settings.

Well first off Application theme != Plasma (Desktop) theme. There should be just one Breeze Application Theme, with different Color Schemes for Breeze Light and Breeze Dark.
I believe there are other posts asking about changing the color scheme for a single application, and some applications allow you to select that through their menus (kdevelop and calligra I know). While there has been a "--theme" option available in KDE apps since KDE 4 which allows you to specify which Application Theme is used for that app, I don't know if they've added a separate one for the color scheme in KDE 5 yet. If not then they probably should.
