Everything has to be animated, from system tray icons to icons on the titlebar

There have been a number of rather outlandish icon themes put together over the years.
I certainly wouldn't expect anything like this in the default theme, but you might get somewhere if you proposed this the the author of one of those themes.
Now I suspect that kde/qt doesn't support animated icons, but I'd love to be wrong .

We could have this option, not compulsory, but would be very very nice.

Hope you are all doing well this new year 2018.

I would really like to see more animation options. KDE being the Kool DEesktop and all. I do not really care whether it is "cartoony" or realistic, but more animation options would be great and fun.

Is there a current method for animating icons? If so how? Just being able to use an animated GIF, PNG, SVG would be great, with options, like maybe always animated or only animate on mouseover or when clicked. I use the bouncing icon with notifications, how is that done, and could that or something like it be done per icon or application?

One request that I would like as well from the Linux Mint forums was to have an animated trash can that you can open, or drag and drop files and or folders, and something would gobble up (eat) your trash, or perhaps an animated shredder machine or even better let the user pick an animated "theme" for icons and applications.

I certainly do agree that having different options for different user tastes is a great thing. That is what customization is about!

However I strongly disagree with making such "extreme" customization things a default or anything.
Keep in mind that there are many professional users of the KDE desktop using it day in day out, 8 to 12 hours a day! Someone like that will HATE such gimmicks for very good reasons. Professional work requires to concentrate on the task that needs to be done. Wiggling icons and wobbling windows are not a help there at all, in contrary.

I totally agree that having the choice is a good thing.

I was a professional businessman and software developer providing support as well for many years for businesses all over the USA and their staff. I know KDE would be great for businesses and for personal use.

I think having an always on animation could be distracting, but animations on mouseovers or when clicked, or that also have functions like the trash with secure delete options would be alright and fun eye candy.

I used to use macOS, with a graphic stack based on Wayland/weston compositing and animation KDE could keep up with macOS, and possibly giving it a space for future media use (like video playback or very precise image editing, or even set top boxes).

I don't want to say KDE will replace macOS' user interface, but for specialized or even industrial media use it could proove useful and in some cases better then macOS
