Context based buttons using DBus

Sun Dec 03, 2017 5:04 am
I have been working on a library that would return a list of DBus methods based on a list of services and plug-ins. Which each have required DBus interfaces and offered methods if the service meets those requirements. A plug-in can also have a configuration module for DBus method arguments that commonly vary.

For example, you could add quick audio stream control by having a plug-in that has a requirement for an AudioOutput/ object, and offers a few methods, with configuration modules, with values, to change the volume for that stream.

What is the feasibility and demand for such a project?

Hmm.. that sounds interesting.
First off, there is MPRIS for music which many music players support and enables things like keyboard media keys and the Now Playing plasmoid to work regardless of what music player you are using to play the music.
On the other hand, having a plasmoid for configurable interactions with DBus services could be nice.
