When i used Dolphin, and downloaded some files to the download folder, the file did not show up immediately and as a result, the F5 hotkey was needed to view the file.
This problem can be resolved by the fact that dolphin carries out the updating task automatically. PD. i don't know if somebody posted that idea, but i think that is a good idea |

I believe Dolphin does detect least some file changes in the folder you have open; just not all changes. I'm not sure what things it detects automatically and what needs help with though. I'd guess there should be a way to have it detect all changes though.

Dolphin should detect changes to open folders already, at least stuff like files being created/moved/renamed. Sounds like a bug if it doesn't.

The best way to do this is to add an option to the .directory. That this works not for all folders, but only for certain. What do you think?

Dolphin does monitor and react to changes in the visualized file system folder. If that did not work in your case then most likely you had opened a folder in a file system where that monitoring did or does not work. The keyword is "file alteration monitor" here. Reasons might be an unsupported file system type, the specific hardware or your system settings.
