Hi All,
I'm sure this topic has been already discussed but I googled and I haven't found a proper answer. I would like to suggest the KDE team to introduce a friendly way to login as a guest, as Gnome does. I tried to do it by myself: - added a new user named "guest" - removed user password - moved the user home folder to /tmp/guest to have all the data wiped away at the logout - shared the wi-fi to all the users to have internet access - I also modified the /etc/shadow to allow guest user to access the login without the password Problems: - Bluetooth always on at the login (not wanted. It affected also the main user, i.e. when login in the main user bluetooth is on. Never happened before create a guest account) - wi-fi prompted for password (even if allowed). This is the most annoyed and important feature to have - touchpad click doesn't work Request to the KDE team: Is it possible to have a guest account who has internet access, is allowed to save files in the home folder temporarily, exactly as gnome does? This feature is useful if a friend or whoever asks the PC to check their mail, or surf the net or watch a movie, write and print a document or whatever. Then have the saved files, passwords and configurations wiped at the logout. I am sure there must be a way to do it writing a script or configuring some files, but it would be really appreciate to have a friendly and out-of-the-box feature to do it. What are the Cons of have a Guest account? Thanks, Luca |

The KDE is using as default the SDDM: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simple_De ... ay_Manager
The SDDM issue tracker has: Guest login #388 - https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/388 |
