In Gnome and Cinnamon, I can set the default application for all (video / audio / pictures) file extensions by choosing the main application from the menu, but in KDE I have to set the default application for every file extension 1 by 1.

Default applications in Gnome :

Default applications In KDE :

Could you consider adding more options for Default Application to be more easier to use?

Can you please share some screenshots of this behavior in Gnome and KDE? Just to make sure I got the right thing.

Earlier/same as : [System Settings] More options for Default Applications - viewtopic.php?f=114&t=59451
I would like to see more options under Default Applications - namely, options that are typically harder to change in File Associations. For example, because there are many different image, audio and video formats, it would make sense to have a default image viewing program, default music/audio player and a default video player ...

Same as the wish in the KDE bug (wish) tracker: Bug 211147 - More options for Default Applications - https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211147
