Hi,
I recently installed Kubuntu 18.04 and I am loving it, however I have been using Windows and various Linuxes for 20 years, so when I couldn't find the progress notification for file copy operations without doing a google search I concluded that it isn't beginner friendly.

How about this...
The first time a user copies a file, show a dialog showing the progress and the option to minimise the progress view to the notification area once, or every single time thereafter.
That way KDE noobs like me are happy, and veterans can have their hyper-discrete notifications.
