Hi there,
This is in its way an old re-occuring topic, so I'm not the first to raise it in some form nor will I be the last... Specifically, I'm looking for better KDE integration with MS Exchange and Skype for Business. There is a knowledge base out there available that could be used to make this happen. I'm looking at maildav and pidgin-sipe here. These are both GPL projects which could be studied and re-used in one way or another. My other point is that external services should be all bundled together into the Settings (to allow the user to configure once) and this could include other service providers like Google, Apple and Facebook too. KDE Plasma is my preferred desktop environment and the purpose of this post is not to denigrate it, rather expose where I think there may be an opportunity to do better. |

For Exchange integration, there was an Exchange EWS resource added to Kontact in KDE Applications 17.12, though a couple of us have run into issues using it.

I have tried EWS Exchange in KOrganiser but to no avail. Admittedly, I'm trying to talk to Office365 working in a VM so these might be factors. Kmail works adequately as an IMAP client.
As a wish list item, I would like to see Kopete offering IM, Voice and Video calling, conference calls and with desktop sharing. This pidgin-sipe reportedly offers a lot of that functionality. My secondary point which admittedly should have been my main point as the subject of this thread suggests, all of the configuration for these related services should be able to be found in one place, Ppreferably under Settings. |
