Idea is about creating new wayland protocol to tell compositor, on which area compositor will switch into „pass mode”.

What it means can depends on wayland compositor, but protocol allows to select dbus/polkit action and setting window rectangle. When compositor detects event selected by user in configuration (for example: mouse click) in insecure rectangle, polkit action would be called or dialog asking for root password appear (depending on compositor).

When mouse are in insecure region, region will be shaded or border of this region could be drawn. Compositor could also draw special icon in some part of screen and show tool tip from system/policykit rules, like: this action will shutdown the computer. Compositor could do many additional things to make the process more secure.

Of course - not only polkit action would been executed, but also application will get special event .

In my opinion, the idea will allow to system be more secure.
