Hi. Lost my Main 'File Edit View History Main Toolbar when reinstalling the latest OpenSuSE Leap 15.1. I needed to be able to use the "File Edit View Go Folder Message Tools Settings Help" Main Toolbar but could not get it back using everything suggested in older topics in the forums.
I played around until I found a point that just worked fine and everything now works. Someone with better skills may find a simpler 'Fix'. In /home/.config/akonadi/akonadi_mailfilter_agentrc ; After LINES:- ConfigureShortcut=false & ConfigureToolbar=false, in the Enabled=false, I edited out the only 'false' with 'true' and it worked. SNAPSHOT:- +++++++++++ [Filter #217] Applicability=0 AutomaticName=true ConfigureShortcut=false ConfigureToolbar=false Enabled=[replaced 'false' with 'true'] Icon=system-run StopProcessingHere=true ToolbarName=<From>: @facebookmail.com action-args-0= action-name-0=delete actions=1 apply-on=check-mail,manual-filtering contentsA=@facebookmail.com fieldA=From funcA=contains identifier=65Ve0HqJsA2wxnYT name=<From>: @facebookmail.com operator=and rules=1 ++++++ A 'Fix' is needed in the .iso but I am not great with bug reporting. |

First thing to try is hitting Ctrl+M which toggles the menu bar on most KDE apps.
Second is to check ~/.config/kmail2rc to see that ShowMenuBar (in the General section) is set to true and/or that MenuBar (in the Main Window section) is set to Enabled (change these as necessary while kmail is not running, even in the background). There are also alternatives to the traditional menu panel in the application, in particular you can add either a button in the titlebar from System Settings -> Application Style -> Window Decorations -> Buttons, or you can add an Application Menu bar panel by right-clicking on the desktop and selecting that menu item under Add Panel. When adding either of these options, the menus should disappear from the applications' windows but still be accessible from the added locations. When removing them the menus should reappear in the applications' windows, however some applications don't cooperate and you may need to take the above two steps to fix them. (btw, the contents of ~/.config/akonadi wouldn't be related to the KMail gui, but only to the akonadi subsystem which runs in the background and powers various PIM apps such as KMail and Korganizer)
