May I suggest adding a polite interval to the Handbook search box? I opened Kate Handbook from Help to look for what I could do with vi-mode, like maybe define a macro, so I entered vi. The fool thing proceeded to hunt for the letter 'v' while I watched in astonishment. When it finally finished, it had truncated 'vi' to just 'v'. What use is that? At least wait until user is finished typing the search term before proceeding to hunt for it. Searching for the first character, indexing each and every instance of the letter 'v' in the entire handbook is an exercise in futility. I consider it a design flaw.

When I select “Help → Kate Handbook” I’m taken to https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/applica ... index.html in a web browser, and there is no search box in there. Where are you exactly?
