i think it would be awesome if applications could be suspended if a activity gets stopped.

I believe this idea has been presented before (many years ago, during the Plasma 4 days). As I recall there was some discussion and possibly even code done to enable this feature, but I don't recall it being completed.

I agree that it would be awesome to see this come to fruition.

Maybe in far future, we could also hibernate an application. Many years ago, I've read in Linux Magazine there exist user space tools to hibernate programs on Linux. There was only one thing making it not fit to Plasma5: it doesn't support applications, which use network connections (which implies also X applications).... But maybe there's possibility to integrate it into KWin_Wayland, because Wayland gather less information about application. In fact, Wayland is designed to use only shared memory instead of Unix(Named)/Network socket. If we integrate this feature into client-libraries of Wayland, maybe this feature would be possible?

Ok. English isn't my native language. Wayland uses shared memory and socket, of course, but it's designed to focus on use of shared memory. If somebody redesign wayland client libraries to intercept some wayland request (commands) and save information contained in these requests, then hibernating single wayland applications could be possible.
