Have you tried using the Expandable folders feature of the Details view?
To enable go into Dolphin settings > View Modes > Details and check Expandable folders, then switch to Details view and you will now get arrows by the folders indicating that you can expand/collapse them.

They know about that - what they are asking for is a way to expand all subfolders at once.
