Hi!
The idea looks crazy at first look but could be spectacular if well made. I set to default "touchpad disabled" option when connecting mouse. And if it keeps enabled but toggle its function. I think the touchpad could be mapped/divided into squares. Maybe four or six. Each square could be a shortcut or a macro or key combination. For example, the left upper square could be "ctrl+c" and the left bottom square could be "ctrl+v". Or some square write my entire name. Or open a app or website, or, or, or. And could be temporarily enabled holding some keyboard key as CTRL. And it could go further. An upper level, with a lot of squares customizable with an plastic film(Easy to find in any student store) or using some pen. Are you sure our Brainstorm is the correct place for this? It entirely depends on the hardware, and the firmware provided by the manufacturer. AFAICS my touchpad has no capabilities to do this. You should address the touchpad manufacturers to address this
