Kaffeine app is great for full quality HDMI DVB video. I like the updating DVB/TV guide data updating as I navigate channels. However, I expected the show/guide information to be updated after a show is recorded. If this increases processor load, perhaps as a default option. Alternately, perhaps this is done using crontab and -channel option. Does anyone know how to make this work?

I tried crontab and included "DISPLAY=:0.0" but did not retain the guide information.

After all, this information is available while watching.

I'm a developer with CS degree, but not experienced in linux yet. Hopefully, you can guide me or find an experienced Kaffeine dev to guide me or perhaps even explain this can be done in TVHeadEnd?

not sure if there is any kaffeine dev reading the brainstorm forum section, you should contact them directly.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

I think DISPLAY=:0 isn't sufficient - X check, which user connects. You must also pass path to cookie file in XAUTHORITY variable. Cookie file is stored inside user home directory. And yet I'm not 100% sure it will works, because on Linux exist ability to ask UID of user process on second side of socket. cron probably works as cron user, so maybe will be necessary to configure sudo also.
