It's annoying, when some window give you hint something important happen and you don't like to switch to one's window (for example watching movie on the web). It's very annoying if you set up panels to autohide.

Idea is to add button dismiss notification on task manager entry like mute button. After clicking it, the button still appear, but panel will hides normally. When I stop watching, I makes panels visible and see which windows have important info.
