Whether you're a writer, a coder, or just spend a lot of time filling out web forms for some reason, you've encountered this problem.
You have something in the buffer that you've copied or cut. You need to paste it somewhere, but where you need to paste it also contains text. You can overwrite it, but that's no good if you need to keep it. You can paste it next to it, then cut the old text. Lame, but it works. You can painstakingly cut the old text, paste it somewhere, then cut or copy the new text, and paste it. That's as dreary as it sounds. Imagine doing that a bunch of times a day. Then imagine doing it every day. You can do a series of keypresses involving undo and redo. Four, I think. FOUR KEYPRESSES. Or we can implement a swap feature. A single keypress that would exchange the buffered text with what is highlighted, solving problems for a lot of people all over the world. Cut, Copy, Paste, and Swap. Your thoughts? |
