I recently started working in a more office-driven environment which means that need to quickly navigate between folders and manage/organize files. I really like Dolphin file manager and IMHO it's one of the best in its class for this. Nevertheless, I started feeling that some things were missing to improve my productivity and so thought that I could lend here some suggestions.
My main nag with Dolphin, is that the Information panel presents to the user not only the file information (as it should) but ALSO the preview of that file. I think it would be nice to have these two functionalities in separate panels, which would allow for things such as having the preview panel visible but not the file information, thus making the preview slightly bigger (small improvements to achieve great things! ). Another improvement in my PoV, that could be made easier after the previous one, is to be able to lock the preview panel at the bottom of Dolphin, where the Terminal panel currently lives (if visible). This would be really great for file management productivity allowing for larger "horizontal" previews and quickly skim through documents without having to open them (yes, I know KDE is fast to open files but still, this functionality would avoid the opening and closing of other applications). Operating System: openSUSE Leap 15.2 KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.6 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.71.0 Qt Version: 5.12.7 Kernel Version: 5.3.18-lp152.60-default OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 8 × AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 3500U w/ Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx Memory: 13.5 GiB of RAM Cheers. |
