Someone (from KDE land) was suggesting, KDE should be better to people without computers knowledge.
I hope this may be useful. Currently, we can show tool tip, when mouse hover. I suggest to not show this tooltip near mouse cursor, but in notification. Also, notification will disappear since some time and have options: a) Never shown again this tip b) Add to notes And create special remembered notes, to allow see notes added from notification center. User may also specify one's knowledge level in certain domain: a) Computer knowledge (Qt, Plasma tips) b) Per-app knowledge (App tips) These levels will allow to shown only needed messages. Showing tips near mouse and without changes proposed here could not be good. User may feel overwhelmed , if we display each possible tip, so showing messages in notification could be great. Also user could scroll tips, adding to notes, search added notes, etc. You should also allow computer vendors to attach photography of each computer part, so if I have some computer, I can see it on my monitor. Photography could also contain metadata, like specify area of rigt/left button on mouse. You can show tutorial with basics and allow to set computer knowledge on first login. Of course, if we cannot find hardware images, we will shown generic.
